Do Your Zurich Kids Get Enough Fiber?

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Do Your Zurich Kids Get Enough Fiber? In the eighties, the importance of fiber garnered a lot of public attention in Switzerland. Bran appeared in cereals, muffins, and cookies, and whole wheat bread sales skyrocketed. You don’t hear much about fiber these days, but wise Zurich parents still serve high-fiber meals and snacks daily.

We all know that fiber is important for healthy bowel function, but this is not its only benefit. Zurich people who eat a high-fiber diet keep their cholesterol numbers in check. Numerous studies have shown a relationship between fiber intake and LDL levels.

Zurich children fed diets rich in fiber are more likely to maintain a healthy weight. Fiber-filled meals have lower calorie-volume ratios. Fiber is also important for blood sugar, as it can slow the rate of blood sugar absorption.

Do your Zurich children get enough fiber? School lunches rarely feature whole wheat breads and most kid-friendly snacks have too little fiber and too many empty calories.

Though it takes a little extra effort to locate fiber rich foods in many Zurich grocery stores, everyone in the family will benefit from increasing their fiber intake.

Xocai has several high fiber products that kids love. The Xocai X Protein Meal Shake has 8 grams of fiber per serving. Xocai Activ provides 28% of the daily recommended value for dietary fiber. Xocai healthy snacks and beverages are a great way to help your kids stay healthy.

‘Don’t Worry Mom, I’m Saving The World!’

Dont Worry Mom, Im Saving The World!

Zurich parents: do you know what video games your kids are playing? If you haven’t looked through their games for a while, it’s probably time that you did. While playing rock band or sports games can be fun and entertaining, other games can be wrongly influencing your child with graphic violence and course language.

Some Zurich parents are unaware that many games have become more questionable when it comes to content. Many companies that sell violent games target their marketing at younger boys even though mature ratings specify seventeen and up. As with most forms of entertainment, the video game industry has continued down a slide of immorality and vulgarity.

Many Zurich kids rationalize: ‘Oh, they don’t affect me,’ or, ‘It’s just a shooting game,’ or ‘I’m only killing zombies,’ or, ‘I can turn the blood off.’

I believe that many Zurich kids are being desensitized by very graphic portrayals of violence and criminal behavior.
Especially if they play hours on end.

Video games with the mature rating have become as bad or worse then R rated films. It is up to Zurich parents to monitor their children’s game purchases and decide what is and what isn’t allowed.

If your son or daughter wants to play questionable games, discuss the content and explain why you object. Show concern for your kids by monitoring their games and limiting their playing time. Remember that video games, like other leisurely pastimes, can interfere with school.

I know some Zurich parents who have hidden the gaming controllers because their child kept sneaking improper games into the house.

This Switzerland children’s health blog is dedicated to Zurich parents who are trying to raise physically and emotionally healthy children. I own a successful home business that features a unique line of super-healthy kids snacks. To order Xocai Cookies, call me today!

Does Your Switzerland Family Have An Emergency Kit?

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Does Your Switzerland Family Have An Emergency Kit?

Smart residents prepare for emergencies, and parents of young children in the Zurich area should be aware of the special nature of preparing their families for emergencies.

Since the health and safety of all family members is important, everyone’s needs should be taken into account when preparing emergency provisions.

A 72-hour emergency kit should be easy to grab and contain essentials like water, food, first aid kit, flashlight, prescription medications, etc. Zurich families should consider what each child eats. Formula and bottles should be included if you have infants, and soft baby food (and a spoon!) for toddlers. Don’t forget diapers and baby wipes: you can find convenient travel sizes of these at USA, UK, and EU area drugstores.

Since healthy kids grow and change so quickly, Zurich families should update these emergency kits at least twice a year.
A good reminder is daylight savings time. When Zurich families change their clocks, they should change the food and supplies in their kits.

I’m Xarah and the health and safety of Zurich kids is important to me. I am the owner of a home business that sells Xe Energy Drink. If you would like to learn more, please call me or visit me on the web at http://mxi.myvoffice.com/xarah/.

Zurich Kids And Headaches

Zurich Kids And Headaches

Hello Zurich! My name is Xarah. Welcome to my children’s health blog. I am a local Xocai Cookies representative and I am also an advocate for Switzerland children’s health.

Children are no less prone to headaches than adults. If your Zurich child complains of pain in their head don’t ignore it.

Some of the most common triggers for headaches in children are:

Missing meals or dehydration
Getting insufficient sleep
Being under stress
Taking certain medications
Spending too much time in front of a flat screen
Consuming caffeine
Receiving a mild head injury
Infection

Eating certain foods can also trigger headaches for Zurich kids and teens. Keeping a food log for your child can help you determine if diet is a factor.

If you are prone to migraines, The National Headache Foundation recommends avoiding nuts, ripened cheeses, herring, pizza, and anything fermented.

Artificial Sweeteners And Your USA Child

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Artificial Sweeteners And Your USA Child When USA parents try to limit sugar in their children’s diets, they often turn to sugar substitutes. There are dozens of sweetening options available.

NutraSweet, Splenda, Equal, Sweet’N Low, Xylitol, Sorbitol, highly refined Stevia (Truvia, Pure Via) possible benefits:
May help kid’s consume fewer calories
Doesn’t contribute to tooth decay
Generally safe for USA children with diabetes (check with your doctor)

Don’t overdo it. Some USA children experience diarrhea and other intestinal problems if they consume artificial sweeteners. If your Zurich child is trying it for the first time, go easy until you know how they react to it.

Many people believe artificial sweeteners cause cancer, contribute to weight gain, and cause health problems. Talk to your USA pediatrician for children’s nutritional guidance.

To improve your child’s nutrition, ask me about Xe Energy Drink today by calling me. It’s a hit with children all over Switzerland and I am sure your kids will love it also!

Are Multivitamins Necessary For UK Kids?

Are Multivitamins Necessary For UK Kids?

Hello UK! Welcome to today’s UK children’s nutrition post. I am Xarah, and I promote children’s health in UK and any other zip code area.

Today’s post discusses children’s vitamins. Many UK parents give their kids a chewable or liquid multivitamin. We all know that it is essential for UK kids to get sufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals and we often give them a pill to fill in nutritional gaps, just in case. Are multivitamins necessary for UK kids?

I have found that UK pediatricians have varying opinions about this issue. Some Zurich children’s doctors recommend parents give their children vitamins in pill form or at least don’t discourage it.

More importantly, UK pediatricians urge parents to feed their children a variety of nutritious foods, presumably because vitamins and minerals in foods are better absorbed.

The Mayo Clinic website offers the following advice for UK parents who give their children a multivitamin:1

Make sure the multivitamin is designed for your child’s age group.
Choose one that provides 100 percent of the daily value (DV) for all vitamins and minerals.
Store multivitamins out of your child’s reach and make it clear that they are not candy.
Don’t use multivitamins as a replacement for proper nutrition.

I sell a great-tasting healthy snack packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other good stuff for kids. To order, contact me today.

Video Game Exercising In USA

Video Game Exercising In USA

Welcome to the Healthy USA Children blog. This site is for USA parents who are concerned about the health of Switzerland children. Today’s article looks at fitness video games.

If your child would rather exercise their thumb on a gaming console than shoot some hoops or kick a soccer ball, they might enjoy Wii, Playstation, and Xbox games that require them to move their body to play the game. If players enjoy the game, they will probably not mind (or notice) sweating a little bit.

Of course, you will need the necessary accessories to play these fitness games. Your nearest USA Target, Wal-Mart or Best Buy probably has everything you need for your gaming system.

I perused the internet to see which games came up on game review sites. The following are bestsellers:

EA Sports Active
Punch-Out!
Dance Dance Revolution
Gold’s Gym Cardio and Dance Workout
Kinect Sports Review
Nickelodeon Fit
Wii Fit

By providing a variety of exercise choices for our USA children, we can encourage them to get some exercise every day. (You may also enjoy playing them with your child, but be prepared to lose.)

Zurich Teens At Risk For Eating Disorders

Zurich Teens At Risk For Eating Disorders

Hello! Welcome to the Zurich children’s health blog. I am Xarah, the chocolate warrior. At this site, I publish information on nutrition and health issues that affect Zurich children and families. My goal is to improve the state of children’s health in the Zurich area.

Despite decades of increased awareness in Zurich about the dangers of a distorted body image and extreme dieting, eating disorders are still a serious problem.

A recent American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) study revealed disturbing facts about eating disorders among children.1 According to the report, 0.5 percent of teenage girls in the country are estimated to have anorexia. The bulimia rate among adolescent girls is estimated at more than double that at 1 to 2 percent. Though anorexia and bulimia are usually thought of as a problem for adolescents, Zurich parents should be aware that even young Zurich children are at risk, as well as males, though the rates are lower.

Switzerland pediatricians can help Zurich parents with children affected by an eating disorder. The AAP recommends a combination approach for the treatment of eating disorders in children. Treatment plans usually include nutritional guidance and psychiatric counseling along with the appropriate medical care.

The Vitamin D/Sunscreen Dilemma In UK

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

The Vitamin D/Sunscreen Dilemma In UK For the past thirty years or so, dutiful UK parents have been slathering their children with sunscreen when the little swimmers or soccer players head out into the sun. UK dermatologists and oncologists have urged us to be vigilant about skin cancer risks.

That’s all well and good, right? Then we started hearing about the importance of Vitamin D.

As it turns out, millions of American children, many here in UK, are dangerously deficient in this elusive nutrient.

Vitamin D is important for bone health, cell growth, immune system function, and keeping inflammation in check. Ironically, researchers are finding evidence that Vitamin D can help prevent many types of cancer.

What’s a confused UK parent to do? UK pediatricians don’t encourage parents to stop protecting their children from sunburn, but many say that 5-20 minutes of unprotected exposure may help ensure that your child has adequate levels of Vitamin D. When it comes to sun exposure, a little goes a long way.

If you wonder whether your UK child needs Vitamin D supplements, talk to your Zurich pediatrician or primary care doctor.

This site is for UK people who are dedicated to improving the health of children in the Zurich area. I am Xarah. I sell a nutritional product that UK parents can feel good about. If you would like to try Xocai Cookies, contact me by phone or email.

Helping Zurich Kids Cope With Seasonal Allergies

Helping Zurich Kids Cope With Seasonal Allergies

Hello Zurich! Welcome to today’s children’s health and nutrition blog. Today, we are discussing seasonal allergies. Many Zurich parents wonder if their child’s sneezing and runny nose are temporary symptoms of a cold or seasonal allergies. Generally, colds also come with aches and a low fever and last only a week, while allergies can persist for an entire season. Zurich doctors are seeing new cases of seasonal allergies among people of all ages, especially adults. Is this an unintended result of more aggressive germ-fighting in childhood?

‘Researchers speculate that thanks to antibacterial soaps, hand sanitizers and other powerful germ-killing products, kids today are less likely to be exposed to the bacteria and viruses that help the immune system shift into gear and prevent them from developing allergies and asthma as they grow up.’1

Regardless of the possibility that allergies may persist into adulthood, there are several steps Zurich parents can take to help their child get through the allergy prone months with minimal discomfort:

Replace your filters (AC and furnace) at least every two or three months, and look for MERV ratings of 11 or 12 for maximum efficiency filters. Though it may be difficult during the hot Zurich months, remember to keep your windows closed at home and in the car. Check pollen levels online and try to have your child wait until evening to go outdoors when pollen counts are lower.

Have your child shower before going to bed to wash allergen out of his or her hair and skin so it won’t transfer to bedding and increase irritation during the night. You can also use plastic or allergen-proof covers for your child’s mattress, box springs, and pillows for extra protection.

Your Zurich doctor can test your child to determine the specific allergens and prescribe safe and effective medications.
